Glossary of Skateboard Tricks

Ollie: A fundamental trick where the skater pops the tail of the board while sliding their front foot up, causing the board to jump into the air.
Kickflip: A trick where the skater flicks the edge of the board with their front foot, making it spin 360 degrees along its length before landing.
Heelflip: Similar to a kickflip, but the skater uses their heel to flip the board in the opposite direction.
Pop Shouvit: A trick where the skater uses their back foot to scoop the tail of the board, making it spin 180 degrees without flipping.
Varial Kickflip: A combination of a kickflip and a pop shuvit, where the board flips and spins simultaneously.
360 Flip (Tre Flip): A trick that combines a 360 degree pop shuvit with a kickflip, making the board spin and flip at the same time.
Hardflip: A trick that combines a frontside pop shuvit with a kickflip, making the board rotate vertically.
Impossible: A trick where the skater uses their back foot to scoop the board so it wraps around their foot in a vertical rotation.
Manual: A balancing trick where the skater rides on only the back or front wheels without letting the other wheels touch the ground.
Nollie:Short for "nose ollie," this is an ollie performed by popping the nose of the board instead of the tail.
Fakie Ollie: An ollie performed while rolling backward (in fakie stance).
Bigspin: A trick where the board does a 360 degree pop shuvit while the skater spins 180 degrees in the same direction.
Laser Flip: A combination of a heelflip and a 360 frontside shuvit, making the board spin and flip.
Darkslide: A grind trick where the board is flipped upside down, and the skater grinds on the grip tape.
Smith Grind: A grind where the front truck is off the rail/ledge while the back truck grinds.
Feeble Grind: A grind where the back truck is locked onto the rail while the front truck hangs over the opposite side.
50-50 Grind: A basic grind where both trucks are on the rail or ledge.
5-0 Grind: A grind where only the back truck is on the rail or ledge, similar to a manual on a ledge.
Blunt Stall: A stall where the tail of the board is on the coping while the wheels are off the ramp.
McTwist: An aerial trick consisting of a 540-degree spin combined with a flip, commonly performed in vert skating.
Inward Heelflip: A combination of a backside pop suvit and a heelflip, where the board rotates inward.
Pressure Flip: A trick where the skater uses their back foot to create pressure, causing the board to flip without a traditional flick.
Frontside Flip: A frontside 180 combined with a kickflip.
Backside Flip: A backside 180 combined with a kickflip.
Hospital Flip: A trick where the board begins a kickflip but is stopped mid-flip and brought back.
Casper Flip: A trick where the board is flipped into a Casper stance before being flipped back.
Nightmare Flip: A double kickflip combined with a pop shuvit.
Dragon Flip: A varial kickflip that flips twice before landing.
Ghetto Bird: A hardflip combined with a late backside 180.
Godzilla Flip :A triple kickflip.
Lazer Heel: A 360 heelflip.
Benihana: A grab trick where the skater holds the tail with one hand while extending one leg.
Stalefish: A grab performed behind the back leg, holding the board’s edge.
Indy Grab: A front hand grab in between the feet on the board.
Melon Grab: A grab performed with the back hand on the heelside edge of the board.
Mute Grab: A front hand grab on the toeside of the board between the feet.
Roast Beef Grab: A back hand grab through the legs on the toeside edge of the board.
Tailgrab: A grab on the tail of the board.
Nosegrab: A grab on the nose of the board.
Christ Air: A trick where the skater grabs the board and extends their body outward.
Boneless: A trick where the skater plants one foot on the ground and jumps while holding the board.
No Comply: A trick where the skater steps off with their front foot while popping the board with the back foot.
Primo Slide: A trick where the board is flipped onto its side, and the skater slides on the edges.
Rail Stand: A trick where the skater stands on the side of the board.
Flamingo: A one-footed trick where the board wraps around the back leg.
Bubble Flip: A trick where the board is flipped using the front foot while stepping off with the back foot.
Crossfoot Ollie: An ollie where the skater lands with their feet crossed.
Nollie Flip: A kickflip performed from a nollie.
Switch Kickflip: A kickflip performed in switch stance.
Switch Heelflip: A heelflip performed in switch stance.
